Another trip to Spylaw

11 10 2011

The bike club has been before, though this time there were some new members going for the first time.

The route was the same as last time – hills, steps and a tunnel.

But this time there was added mud.

Everyone had a great time.

Tuesday 4th October: Obstacle course and ramps

6 10 2011

Never mind the puddles!

Today we practiced bike control using the obstacle ramps. We also practiced moving slowly on our bikes. Who can go the slowest!

Setting up the course

Today we got the ramps out and made a course.

We rode round it.

Homework: Think of  new ideas to our course/obstacles better.

Here is a similar setup in use in other parts of Edinburgh -

Stenhouse is an I Bike school!

13 09 2011

Stenhouse has been selected (and agreed) to become one of SustransI Bike schools.

It will join others in the Tynecastle cluster. The aim is to encourage more children to cycle and help them if they choose to cycle to secondary school in future.

Spylaw Adventure

31 08 2011

Today the Club cycled all the way to Spylaw Park, passing allotments, a cemetery and through Craiglockhart Dell (and a tunnel).

The school staff  ’guarded’ the bikes while everyone else tried the equipment in the swing park.

The route there.

The route back.

Total distance about 6 miles.
